The Broomfield House project, totalling €6 million, was the complete refurbishment and restoration of a period building with many additions from the 1960s,70s and 80s.
As this project required major structural intervention, we introduced 100 tonnes of structural steel to fortify the building’s framework, ensuring both stability and longevity. Underpinning to the ground floor further solidified the structure’s foundation, enhancing its resilience. Noteworthy enhancements included the installation of new stair cores across all six floors, enhancing accessibility and circulation throughout the hotel. The addition of a new mobility lift car aimed to improve accessibility for all guests.
Completing the project, a new roof was installed across the entire building, safeguarding against weather elements and ensuring comfort for occupants. This project represents our commitment to delivering comprehensive solutions that prioritise both functionality and aesthetics. It is worth noting that the build was condemned by previous engineers. However, we took proactive measures by appointing specialists to redesign solutions that would preserve the old structure while incorporating modern techniques to reinforce the fabric of the building. This approach not only ensured the safety and integrity of the hotel but also allowed us to breathe new life into the existing infrastructure.
